The Old Rugged Cross

The lyrics to this have been on my mind all afternoon.
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,  The emblem of suff’ring and shame,

And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best

  For a world of lost sinners was slain.

  So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross,

  And exchange it some day for a crown.

Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,

  Has a wondrous attraction for me;

For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,

  To bear it to dark Calvary.

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,

  A wondrous beauty I see;

For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,

  To pardon and sanctify me.

There is a 4th verse to that song.

4. To the old rugged cross, I will ever be true.

It’s shame and reproach gladly bear.

Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away;

Where His Glory forever I’ll share.

Psalm 34

 I will bless the Lord at all times;His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord;The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me,And let us lift up His name together. I sought the Lord [on the authority of His word], and He answered me,And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant;Their faces will never blush in shame or confusion. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard himAnd saved him from all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience],And He rescues [each of] them. O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him. O [reverently] fear the Lord, you His saints (believers, holy ones);For to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions lack [food] and grow hungry,But they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me;I will teach you to fear the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worship Him with obedience]. Who is the man who desires lifeAnd loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evilAnd your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good;Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous [those with moral courage and spiritual integrity]And His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,To cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hearsAnd rescues them from all their distress and troubles. The Lord is near to the heartbrokenAnd He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin). Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous,But the Lord rescues him from them all. He keeps all his bones;Not one of them is broken. Evil will cause the death of the wicked,And those who hate the righteous will be held guilty and will be condemned. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned. – Psalm 34:1-22

Tears. We stress and worry and cry over a situation. What we should be doing is crying out to God. He sees your tears. Go to the Father, cry out to the Holy if Holies. Seek His face. Cry out to Him and let Him strengthen you and guide you through the situation that has you down
They who sow in tears shall reap in joy and singing.
Psalm 126:5 AMPC

There is nothing you can’t take to God.

There is nothing that you are going through, feeling, thinking, or walking amidst that God hasn’t seen or heard. You may think that’s not true but pay attention, look at all the people in this world that know God. Now see the diversity of ages. Now look at those who actively seek and follow His ways and commands. All ages, races, make and female. There is nothing you can’t take to God.
I know sometimes it seems as if whatever you’re carrying is sooo big and you are so sure that you have fallen or failed God and cannot go to Him. You can. He is waiting to hear from you. He is waiting to lighten your load and give you His peace, the peace that surpasses the peace of this world. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, sibling, niece, nephew, cousin, friend….YOU, He is waiting on YOU. Wherever you are. He is a prayer away. Just a prayer.

I have 2 siblings. I have an older brother whom I talk to occasionally. I love him dearly and I couldn’t help but think of him when I saw this prayer.

I have a younger sister who has a different mom than me. She is beautiful and although we don’t speak, I will never stop loving and praying for her and her family.

1 Peter 3:3-4

Too often we judge and make insights based on what we with JUST our eyes. We judge how nice or shabby, up or down, a person is dressed. Hair done? Make up perfect? Car nice? Kids behaving? Kids dressed nice? Home in perfect order?

The “looks” aren’t what is going to get us into Heaven. My perfectly clean house will not save my soul. My manicure and makeup do not matter to God. I am not saying let yourself go. God wants us to have joy and if you feel your best in make up then have at it. Just know that it isn’t everything. Know that it doesn’t matter and it doesn’t make you you. You are who you are because God made you and (i am assuming) you are following his plan for your life. Know that you don’t need the latest and greatest of everything. God sees something far more important than your outside. He sees your inside. Your innermost thoughts. Your heart. Your soul. He sees parts of you that you don’t even know are there, till you need them. You are a beautiful soul, God loves you.
