25 Encouraging Scripture Verses for Those Who Are Grieving

Lynn Dove's Journey Thoughts

It’s been a couple of years since a young boy in our town lost his life because another young man made the tragic choice to get behind the wheel of his car and drive drunk.  Two families’ lives shattered because of a horribly bad decision.  The young people in our town all knew the boy killed and they are asking “Why?”  Why did God allow this to happen?  They want justice, not mercy for the accused drunk driver.  Both mothers are grieving for their sons…one gone forever, and another who will likely spend his young life behind bars.

Grief is a multifaceted response to loss, particularly to the loss of someone or something to which a bond was formed. Although conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, it also has physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, spiritual, and philosophical dimensions. While the terms are often used interchangeably, bereavement refers to the state of…

This Morning’s Prayer Call/1-19-15

Father, you see all these requests and I know you are on the move. So very many needs. I bring them all to you, standing in prayer together, WE bring them to you. Your word tells us that where 2 or more gather in your name that you will be there. We are gathered over these requests, crying out to you on the behalf of these people. May their needs be met. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Hope Versus Confidence

From the Heart of God...

unshakeble confidence

“Many say, Oh, that we might see some good!  Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord.  You have put more joy and rejoicing in my heart than they know when their wheat and new wine have yielded abundantly.  In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.” (Psalm 4:6-8)

Hope is the beginning of faith.  The Bible says “faith is the substance of things HOPED for.”  But hope isn’t confident, it’s just hopeful.  “many say, oh, that we MIGHT see some good!”  Hope is all that people have who don’t have an intimate relationship with the Lord.

Confidence is being fully persuaded in someone or something.  Confidence comes from knowledge–intimate knowledge.  They say that “knowledge is power.”  Well it is true.  To have knowledge of God in a personal relationship is the…

Meditation/Betty’s Verse Of The Day/1-16-15

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. — Philippians 4:13
Before I decided what verse to use this morning, the verse above came to me way before I decided. So, I believe God is trying to tell me something. There are things I need prayer for that are unspoken and I ask for you to keep praying for me and others on the lists we send out. We walk a walk that isn’t really safe, because we walk with Jesus persecution will come, but this is a good time to use the verse above, Jesus gives us the strength to keep going, and every morning is a new start, today let us not forget who actually gave us life. Love Betty B..Let’s pray..
Precious Lord O how we love you, your love for us is everlasting and it reaches to the sky…

Kindness Gone Viral

By Mart De Haan
Read: Mark 10:13-16

Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. —Mark 10:14
News of a simple act of kindness on a New York subway has gone around the world. A young man, head covered by a hooded sweatshirt, fell asleep on the shoulder of an older passenger. When someone else offered to wake the young rider, the older man quietly said, “He must have had a long day. Let him sleep. We’ve all been there.” Then he let the tired fellow rider sleep on his shoulder for the better part of the next hour, until the older man gently eased away to get up for his stop. In the meantime, another passenger snapped a photograph and posted it on social media, and it went viral.

The man’s kindness seems to…

Abba, We come before you on behalf of Sue. She needs a touch from you Lord. She needs healing in her body. Put angels about her to encourage her, Father. Give her your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Give her strength to stand strong as a child of the King. Touch her family, Lord, let them be a light and a help in her time of need. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
